Driving Positions

CTS  hires the best Class A CDL licensed drivers for company as well as owner operators available.

CTS  has local and regional driving positions available throughout the United States. 

CTS   hires qualified and safe drivers who represent our company in a professional manner. 

Overall Purpose

Safely drive a conventional tractor throughout the United States and Canada, as required, based on the availability of freight and hours available according to the hours of service regulations, Part 395, of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. In addition to driving, you will be required to load and unload both pneumatic trailers and railcars, hook and unhook from trailers and railcars;  and perform daily inspections of equipment. You must maintain all required paperwork including logbook, delivery and pay sheets and work with on-board Computer units.

 

In order to qualify for a truck driving job at CTS you must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Be a minimum of 23 years old.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL license in the state that you reside in. If you have recently moved, you will have 30 days to obtain a new license.
  • Have a minimum of one year verifiable over-the-road, tractor/trailer experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOT Physical.
  • Must be able to pass a FMCSA Drug Screen.
  • Must be able to pass a CTS Skills test.
  • No more than 3 moving violations, 3 preventable accidents, or any combination of more than 3 within the last 3 years.
  • No more than 1 preventable DOT Recordable accident in the last year.
  • No DUI, OWI, DWI, OUI, or any other related drug or alcohol offense in the last 5 years.

After employment, all drivers must adhere to the above or driving privileges will be suspended.  Accidents are subject to accident point system. CTS reserves the right to go beyond these standards if public safety is threatened.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to drive and work for as many as 14 hours.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to report for dispatch at time specified and to maintain contact with dispatch offices as required.
  • Must be able to comply with company regulations regarding personal grooming, wear a uniform, wear required safety apparel, etc.

Must be able to perform the following activities

  • Lifting 75 lbs.
  • Carrying 75 lbs.
  • Climbing in and out of tractor, on top of trailer and railcars.
  • Repeated bending, crouching.
  • Walking extended distances.
  • Standing extended period.
  • Operation of communication devices.
  • Able to perform and understand simple math.
  • Understand, read and communicate in the English language.
  • Attend and participate with ongoing training.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of interior and exterior of the vehicle.
  • Work schedule flexibility.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Vehicle operation during various weather and lighting conditions.
  • On time delivery and pickup of scheduled loads.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
